What Spell Zoo stores, what it does not, and what happens to the letters you type into the solver.

This page describes what Spell Zoo collects, which is very little, and what happens to it.

The letters you type into the solver

They travel in the address of the page so that a result can be shared or bookmarked, they are used to look up words, and then they are gone. Nothing you unscramble is written to a database, attached to you, or kept in a history. There is no account on this site and nothing to log in to.

The contact form

If you send a message, the name, the optional email address, the message text and the connecting IP address are stored so that the message can be read and answered, and so that abuse can be blocked. Nothing is added to a mailing list, because there is no mailing list. Ask on the same form and your message will be deleted.

Cookies

Spell Zoo sets no cookies of its own. There is no login, no cart and no preference to remember between visits.

Analytics

Aggregate visit statistics may be collected through a standard analytics tool to show which pages are used and which are not. Those statistics are counts and trends, never a profile of an individual reader, and they are never sold or shared.

Services in front of the site

The site sits behind a content delivery network, which processes requests in order to serve pages quickly and to filter automated abuse. The contact form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a submission comes from a person rather than a script; it works without profiling you and without tracking you across other sites.

Advertising

Spell Zoo is free because it is paid for by ads. We use Google AdSense, which is what keeps the solver free for everyone.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or to other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • Where the law requires it (for example in the EU, the UK and parts of Latin America), a consent banner asks you first, and you can refuse personalised ads. Refusing does not limit anything on this site.
  • You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, refuse third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info, or read how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Children

Spell Zoo is safe for classroom use and asks for no personal information from anybody, of any age, anywhere on the site except the contact form.
