Terms of Use

Using Spell Zoo means accepting the short set of terms below. They are deliberately plain.

The service

Spell Zoo publishes word lists and runs a word unscrambler, free of charge, with no account and no subscription. Pages and lists may change as the dictionary behind them is corrected or extended, and the site may be unavailable at times without notice.

Accuracy

Every list here is generated from one dictionary and the counts are produced by counting it, so they are right for that dictionary. They are not a ruling on what is a word. No two dictionaries agree, tournaments use their own official lists, and a game you are playing may accept or reject something this site does not. Check the rules of your own game before arguing with an opponent, and do not treat these pages as an authority in a dispute.

Fair use of the site

Read it, print from it, link to it, use it in a lesson. Do not scrape it in bulk, run automated requests against the solver at a rate that degrades it for other people, or attempt to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to it. What you may and may not do with the content itself is set out on the License page.

Games and competitions

This is a reference and a solver. Whether using it during a particular game is fair play is between you and the people you are playing with. Using it against an opponent who does not know is cheating, and the tool being free does not change that.

Liability

The site is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. It is not liable for a lost game, a wrong answer, a rejected word or any other loss arising from using it.
